Jan C. Kalamazoo is the largest city in the southwest region of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 77,145.
, USA, has been awarded the Coating and Graphic Arts Division Leadership and Service Award. Walter joined TAPPI in 1985 and has been active in the Coating and Graphic Arts division. She was chairman of the Coating and Graphic Arts division in 2000 and was instrumental in the division's reorganization from eleven committees to five common interest groups. Walter also served on the Operating Committee of TAPPI's board of directors from 2001 through 2002. In addition to her TAPPI activities, Walter is a member of PAPTAC PAPTAC Pulp And Paper Technical Association of Canada  and GAA GAA Goals Against Average (Hockey)

Robert J. Alheid is the recipient of the Coating and Graphic Arts Division Technical Award. In 1999, Alheid retired from Beloit Corp. and established his consulting business, RJA-Engineering. Alheid has been a TAPPI member since 1978 and an active member of the Coating and Graphic Arts Division's Coating Process Committee as well as the Lake States Local Section.

Alheid developed innovative designs for coating and paper machinery. His areas of specialization include web handling design, machine structural and dynamic design, metered size press technology, coating application design, coater drying design and application, and drive system dynamics.
