The new results, says Guilbault, are the first to show that the analysis can be done directly in the gas phase. Guilbault has a small company that holds a patent on this technique. Guilbault is now developing antibody-based sensors for detecting cocaine, morphine morphine, principal derivative of opium, which is the juice in the unripe seed pods of the opium poppy, Papaver somniferum.
