Coastcom Introduces Two New Wi-Fi Platforms.ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Coastcom, a leading manufacturer and supplier of metro/access network solutions for connecting voice, data, and video services to public and private networks, announced today it has broadened its wireless product line to include the HotPort 6000 AutoMesh node (outdoor/indoor) and the HotPoint 4000 Access Point (outdoor/indoor). HotPort 6000 AutoMesh nodes enable multiple network services and standard Ethernet devices (such as digital video surveillance cameras, access points, or other network connected devices) to operate on the wireless backbone creating secure and reliable wireless networks for video, voice and data. Designed for maximum performance, scalability, and ease of use, the HotPort mesh network A communications network in which there are at least two pathways to each node. If one of the paths fails, the other is still available. A "fully meshed" network means that every node has a direct connection to every other node, which is a very elaborate and expensive architecture. works seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments and can operate in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrums. The HotPort 6000 also offers a public safety (PS) version operating at 4.9 GHz, allocated in the US for exclusive use by public safety agencies. HotPoint 4000 wireless access points deliver a modular access solution for large-scale, indoor and outdoor wire less mesh networks. Modular design enables full network and software integration of the access points with a HotPort wireless mesh network (1) A network that relies on all nodes to propagate signals. Although the wireless signal may start at some base station (access point) attached to a wired network, a wireless mesh network extends the transmission distance by relaying the signal from one computer to another. while at the same time permitting independent physical placement of the hard ware to provide optimal accessibility for Wi-Fi clients. According to Arturo Zarate, Coastcom's Director of Marketing and Business Development, "The HotPort 6000 & HotPoint 4000 provide a common wireless network for Voice/Video/Data applications which eliminates costly, disruptive, and time-consuming provisioning, found in traditional wired Ethernet networks." Coastcom will be showcasing these new wireless products at the UTC (Coordinated Universal Time, Temps Universel Coordonné) The international time standard (formerly Greenwich Mean Time, or GMT). Zero hours UTC is midnight in Greenwich, England, which is located at 0 degrees longitude. EXPO 2007, in Austin, TX, May 6-9, 2007, and NXTComm in Chicago, IL, June 18-21, 2007. COASTCOM: Based in Alameda, California, Coastcom is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Core-Metro-Access solutions. Since its inception 36 years ago, Coastcom, which pioneered development of the first intelligent T1 access multiplexer (D/I D/I Due-In D/I Debt to Income ratio D/I Drop/Insert D/I Distinctive Insignia D/I Decimation/Interpolation Mux), has now broadened its family of product offerings to support leading edge technologies. These technologies include CWDM (Course WDM) An optical transmission method that is used for shorter distances than dense WDM (DWDM). Also known as "wide WDM," CWDM transmits fewer channels and uses wider spacing between the channels for distances up to 60 km. Wider spacing up to 25 nm, compared to 1. , ROADM ROADM Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer ROADM Reconfigurable Add Drop Multiplexing , Next Generation SONET/SDH (EoS), MSPP (MultiService Provisioning Platform) A high-end Cisco router that supports TDM circuits, packets and optical connections at the edge of the network.
