Coalition fights proposed tower.


An unusual coalition of the Meat Packing District's business owners and preservationists have quashed a proposed apartment tower in the neighborhood and now want the area designated a historic district. The Save Gansevoort Market Taskforce is now seeking a historic of the neighborhood

The group, which comprises meatpackers, nightclub owners restaurateurs and preservaionists, last month forced Manhattan-based Landmark Development to withdraw its application for a city zoning variance The discrepancy between what a party to a lawsuit alleges will be proved in pleadings and what the party actually proves at trial.
