for leaders in the transportation, logistics and airline industries to unite and volunteer their time as members of the Coalition to discuss luggage security issues with decision makers in the nation's capital in an effort to reform the way the country's buses, trains and planes handle travelers' luggage.

"I am personally inviting the best minds in all sectors of the nation's transportation industry to contact me to join this new Coalition and be part of a high level alliance of volunteers. Together we can work together and bring innovative solutions for luggage security reform to the attention of the White House, members of Congress, Homeland Security Noun 1.  and the 9/11 Commission," said Mr. Altomare. "I am funding this voluntary, no dues-required partnership so that experts in the nation's transportation industry can actively discuss and debate the most effective ideas to enhance passenger and travel luggage security to benefit the public." Mr. Altomare can be reached at 1-561-367-6177 or by email to coalition@usxp.com.

The centerpiece of the Coalition's campaign is a policy paper authored by Mr. Altomare entitled "More Safety, Less Hassle for American Travelers: A Private Sector Solution for the Airline Industry," (www.usxp.com/securitywp.pdf). The paper advocates that for security reasons, luggage should be viewed as cargo and shipped separately from passengers. USXP, whose subsidiaries include Luggage Express, Inc., is a New York and Florida-based provider of logistics delivery services.

Mr. Altomare explained the formation of the Business Coalition for Luggage Security is an outgrowth of his long-time mission to help reform the way suitcases are handled. "It is my fundamental belief that for security reasons, suitcases should never move with people. Suitcases are cargo and should be shipped separately from the passengers," stated Mr. Altomare.

"The Coalition's goal is to reform the ways in which suitcases are transported. Though well intended, the steps that have been taken at airports by the federal government since the September 11 attacks September 11 attacks

have been merely reactionary forms of security and quite frankly, the government's efforts are not working." In calling for transportation experts to step up to the plate, Mr. Altomare urged, "If we do not change the outmoded out·mod·ed

way luggage is transported in this age of terrorism the country may end up with serious paralysis, long-term transportation delays and worse. The Coalition needs the best intelligence of the transportation industry to bring solutions to the attention of our nation's leaders," concluded Mr. Altomare.
