It is a division of the French holding company, LVMH Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy S.A. , the world's leading luxury products group, has learned through media reports, including an egregious and self-serving press release issued today by Coach, that the Japanese Fair Trade Commission (JFTC JFTC Japan Fair Trade Commission

) is not pursuing an investigation based on Coach's March 2005 complaint against LVMH.

This development would confirm that Coach's allegations were entirely baseless and that LVMH's commercial practices in Japan are beyond reproach, as they have always been.

"Coach's tactics in filing this complaint and in seeking media attention were nothing but desperate efforts to compensate for the inability of their products, manufactured in regions with cheap labor, to compete with true luxury brands manufactured in Europe, such as Louis Vuitton," said a senior LVMH executive. "Louis Vuitton will continue its extraordinary success in Japan and its leadership in the true luxury goods sector in that market."
