Broadband digital communications connection that operates over standard copper telephone wires. It requires a DSL modem, which splits transmissions into two frequency bands: the lower frequencies for voice (ordinary
 (VoDSL) using Jetstream's broadband voice services platform.

The partnership will enable network service providers to use CoManage's industry-leading Integrated Service Manager(TM) (ISM See ISM band. ) to conduct VoDSL service creation and management with breakthrough, end-to-end visibility and control over the services.

At the core of Jetstream's solution is the CPX-1000 Broadband Voice Services Platform, which is being chosen by leading carriers to support delivery of voice services over broadband access See broadband and wireless broadband.  networks.

The CPX-1000 will be supported by CoManage's ISM, the industry's first service management software uniting in-depth information about customers and services with powerful network management capabilities, in a single, revolutionary application. ISM integrates discovery, provisioning, fault management and performance monitoring capabilities, and embeds customer and service information into these features. This breakthrough creates Customer-Aware service management, enabling service providers now to see their customers and their services and gain an important, new differential advantage in today's highly competitive marketplace.

Bringing Customer-Awareness to VoDSL

ISM's architecture is built around a robust, real-time database, the Network Knowledge Base, which dynamically links information about network elements, services and customers. As a result, network events are instantly correlated cor·re·late

New Network Element Modules from CoManage will enable ISM to support creation and management of services across Jetstream's CPX-1000 platform as well as other components in the DSL infrastructure. The CPX-1000 resides in a carrier's regional switching center A switching center is a node in a telecommunications Circuit switching network which is connected to either another switching center and/or to end user devices. Switching centers are aware of other centers and possible routes between them such that on demand a center can establish , allowing local voice service from the carrier's existing Class 5 switch to be delivered over a broadband access network.

A typical VoDSL deployment will feature customer premises devices, such as Integrated Access Devices An IAD is a customer premises device that provides access to wide area networks and the Internet. Specifically, it aggregates multiple channels of information including voice and data across a single shared access link to a carrier or service provider PoP (Point of Presence). , linked to a broadband access network, often based on Asynchronous Transfer Mode See ATM.

. Traffic is carried across the ATM network to Jetstream's gateway, where voice traffic is offloaded to the carrier's Class 5 switch for transport across the telephone network, while data traffic can be passed on to the Internet or metropolitan area network.

CoManage's ISM will give service providers visibility into end-to-end services running across every segment of the DSL infrastructure, with complete awareness of how each service is performing for each customer. In addition, ISM will enable service providers to provision VoDSL services in minutes, rapidly establishing new service in response to customer orders.
