On the transactional side, I can predict the return on investment relatively accurately. But also my lever, as Dan (Miklovic) has pointed out, is much shorter. At the early part of the design, my lever is very long. But predicting how much I get out of this investment, how much will my competitiveness increase, is very difficult to do. Albeit less predictable, investing in this `fuzzy' front end is where companies have the biggest opportunities to differentiate themselves, growing their top-line and gaining market share," said Schad.
