CoCreate Introduces Windows-Compatible User Interface and Web Integration to ME10; Versions 8.7 and 9.0 Set New Standards for Ease-of-Use and Professional 2-D Design Capabilities.

FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 1998--CoCreate Software Inc., a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company, today announced two new releases of its industry-leading ME10 2-D design, drafting and documentation solution.

ME10 Version 8.7, which is scheduled to be available in July, incorporates more than 100 customer-requested enhancements. ME10 Version 9.0, which is scheduled to be available in early 1999, will feature a Microsoft(R) Windows(R)-compatible user interface and Web-integration capabilities.

The new releases are designed to provide substantial advantages for distributed design teams wanting to share information over the Internet or company intranet. They also are expected to set new standards for ease of use and professional design capabilities in the 2-D environment.

ME10 VERSION 8.7

ME10 Version 8.7 will be delivered to all ME10 customers as part of CoCreate's support and maintenance program. Specific enhancements include the following: -0-

     --   extension of ME10's leading co-pilot technology to include
          "measure" functionality, which increases design efficiency.
          During the use of the measure function, actual values can be
          seen as the cursor moves;

     --   online help available in a Web-based format and configured
          for running and printing using a standard browser;

     --   direct integration of the IGES interface with the ME10 core
          product, which increases data-exchange convenience and
          price/performance;

     --   improvement of ME10's recently introduced pixel module,
          through additional choices for selecting inversion of black
          or white pixel maps during printing;

     --   support for the DDE COM protocol, which provides direct
          integration of ME10 with any application. For example, it is
          possible to load a drawing directly from a browser-based
          directory with one click of the mouse;

     --   optimization of system startup times and loading times for
          drawings through support of long filenames for IGES and DXF
          data sets;

     --   further improvement of ME10's professional spline
          functionality, with reworked mathematical algorithms
          providing improved reliability and more tolerant handling of
          imported geometry;

     --   optimized memory management (SmartHeap); and

     --   latest compiler technology (Windows NT(R) 4.0 with Visual
          C++).

ME10 VERSION 9.0

     ME10 Version 9.0 is designed specifically to meet emerging
customer requirements for support of collaborative design paradigms.
New features will include the following:

-- the ability to leverage ME10 drawing data in scalable vector-based format (likeVRML) and Drawing Web Format (DWF), and to publish it easily on the World Wide Web;

-- an optional Windows-compatible user interface with user-definable pop-up menus and icon-driven commands;

-- support for the Windows clipboard, DDE and OLE1.0. This will make data exchange with other applications straightforward and easy;

-- Microsoft standard-based file-browsing capabilities for searching and selection;

-- menu-driven capabilities for system setup and configuration; and

-- support for all user-interface commands using the ME10 macro language, which allows any type of customization.
