CoCreate Introduces Low-Cost Solution for Viewing and Printing ME10 Drawings in Windows Environments; CoCreate Cuts Price of Existing ME10 Viewer for HP-UX.

FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 1998--CoCreate (CoCreate Software Inc., Fort Collins, CO, www.cocreate.com) A software company specializing in mechanical CAD (MCAD), data management and project team collaboration software. Established in 1985 as the Mechanical Design Division of Hewlett-Packard, CoCreate adopted its present name in 1996 when it became a subsidiary of HP. In 2000 CoCreate became an independent entity. Software Inc., a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company, today announced the availability of a new, low-cost solution for viewing and printing drawings created using the company's industry-leading 2-D design, drafting and documentation package, ME10.

The new solution, known as ME10 Viewer, has been optimized to run on Windows(R)-based PCs and does not require a full ME10 license. CoCreate also reduced the price of its existing ME10 Viewer for the HP-UX(1) operating environment by more than 50 percent.

ME10 Viewer allows a variety of disciplines in customer and subcontractor organizations to make use of existing ME10 designs without installing or understanding the full ME10 functionality. With the price reduction in the HP-UX version, identical functionality is now available on the UNIX(R) system and PC platforms at the same price, giving customers complete freedom of choice.

"This new version of ME10 Viewer demonstrates CoCreate's continuing commitment to investment in applications for the ME10 environment," said Tilman Schad, president and chief executive officer of CoCreate. "We listened to and responded to customer demands for a low-cost, PC-based viewer that is supported directly by CoCreate. We also decided to make the HP-UX version available for the same attractive price."

ME10 Viewer is of value to mechanical design departments, other product-related disciplines and management within ME10 customer organizations. Subcontractors and other external companies that need to view or print a customer's ME10 drawings also will benefit from it. ME10 Viewer can be fully integrated with CoCreate's WorkManager product-data and workflow management solution, enabling WorkManager to display ME10 drawings without requiring that users initiate ME10 as an intermediate step. This saves ME10 Viewer users time and money.

The PC-based version of ME10 Viewer is available on Windows NT(R) and Windows 95. It enables existing ME10 designs to be viewed and printed on a PC from native ME10 files created using the current version, ME10 8.7. Display, print, zoom and pan functionality are all provided. ME10 Viewer supports MI, compressed MI, HP-GL HP-GL - Hewlett Packard-Graphics Language/GL2, IGES 2D and DXF formats.

CoCreate intends to make UNIX system and PC versions of ME10 Viewer available immediately as an option with all future releases of ME10 and will support the viewer 100 percent.
