CoCreate Announces ME10 2000; New Capabilities Accelerate 2-D-based Product Development.

High Tech Writers

FORT COLLINS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 16, 2000

CoCreate Software Inc., a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company, today announced ME10 2000, the latest version of its popular 2-D CAD software, ME10, with innovative new capabilities focused on support of industry standards and the use of Internet technology.

To speed up the 2-D design process and further support design teams that practice collaborative engineering, ME10 2000 introduces new capabilities such as OLE server In OLE compound document technology, it is the application that is called upon to display and process a linked or embedded object. See OLE.  technology, direct integration of Microsoft(R) NetMeeting, DXF/DWG translator functionality and more than 30 other customer-driven enhancements.

OLE Server Integration and Microsoft NetMeeting Microsoft NetMeeting is a VoIP and multi-point videoconferencing client included in many versions of Microsoft Windows (from Windows 95 OSR2 to Windows XP). It uses the H.  Integration

The full implementation of OLE technology allows easy integration of Windows(R) applications into ME10 drawings, and vice versa VICE VERSA. Included in the Microsoft application suite, it is a sophisticated program with rudimentary desktop publishing capabilities that has become the most widely used word processing application on the market.  documents or text documents, spreadsheets, and video integration with drawings. This enhanced functionality makes data exchange with other applications easy and straightforward, setting a new standard for efficiency during the design and documentation process.

Direct integration of ME10 2000 with NetMeeting enables co-editing and co-drafting between different users and/or departments on 2-D designs, facilitating faster and better communication during the product-development process.

New DXF/DWG Translator Functionality and Architecture

A new DXF/DWG translator enables customers to easily exchange geometry with other applications, including labels, GD & T symbols, and associative as·so·ci·a·tive

 hatch patterns. The translator's architecture has been redesigned to increase performance by more than 100 percent. This new feature expands the performance of ME10 to allow companies to more readily exchange design information with their suppliers.

ME10 2000 also includes more than 30 customer-requested enhancements, including the following:

--   simplified customization of the Windows user interface;

-- individual user system configuration; and

-- more than 120 predefined icons featuring new load options for
     faster data check during the drawing load operation.

"This release has been developed with our customers in mind," said Wolfgang Bildhauer, CAD product marketing manager for CoCreate. "Its seamless integration An addition of a new application, routine or device that works smoothly with the existing system. It implies that the new feature or program can be installed and used without problems. Contrast with "transparent," which implies that there is no discernible change after installation.  with office applications, Internet technology and team-based applications position ME10 2000 to be one of the most powerful tools for innovation in 2-D design."

With the new release, CoCreate delivers a new product structure that includes all translators This is primarily a list of notable Western translators. Please feel free to add translators from other languages, cultures and areas of specialization. Large sublists have been split off to separate articles.  and the parametric module in one product. In addition, the new release allows simplified license and password handling to better support license utilization and reduce system-administration time.

Both ME10 2000 and the ME10 Viewer are now integrated into CoCreate's design management solution. This enhancement makes the ME10 Viewer a powerful view station that helps ensure data integrity during the design process. A new import function enables users to view TIFF, BMP (1) (BitMaP) Also known as a "bump" file, it is the native, bitmapped graphics format in Windows. A BMP can be saved in several color options: 1-, 4-, 8- and 24-bit color provide 2, 16, 256 and 16,000,000 colors respectively. BMP files use the .BMP or .  or MPG The extension used on the MPEG file format. See MPEG.
