Cluster Council to bolster industry.


To help develop a plan to strengthen Ontario's mineral cluster, Rick Bartolucci Rick Bartolucci (born October 10, 1943 in Sudbury, Ontario) is a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario representing the Sudbury riding. He has been a member of the assembly since 1995, and is currently a cabinet minister in the government of Dalton McGuinty. , Minister of Northern Development and Mines, has created an Ontario Mineral Industry Cluster Council (OMICC).

Representatives from the mining industry, academia and government will be on the panel.

A cluster is a geographic concentration of inter-linked industries that may create or represent a sector with competitive and co-operative advantages. These clusters create wealth within a region, mostly through export of goods and services In economics, economic output is divided into physical goods and intangible services. Consumption of goods and services is assumed to produce utility (unless the "good" is a "bad"). It is often used when referring to a Goods and Services Tax. .

OMICC will identify opportunities, enhance competitiveness, innovation and investments, while gathering insights at their regular meetings. The results from the meeting will go directly to Bartolucci.
