Farin and Jeff Dallas, who started the business in 1995 by selling plants at the Portland Saturday Market The Portland Saturday Market is the largest outdoor arts and crafts market in continuous operation in the United States. It is held every Saturday and Sunday from March to December under the west end of the Burnside Bridge in Portland, Oregon. , say they have created a loyal following of collectors and growers of meat-eating plants throughout Oregon and beyond.

Farin, who started with the company part time in 1998 while completing his residency as a family physician, left his practice in 2002 to do the carnivorous plant thing full time. The two have co-authored a book titled, "Secrets to Growing Beautiful Carnivorous Plants for Your Home and Garden" and are recognized carnivorous plant experts at AllExperts .com, a Web site where questions are answered from growers all over the world.

They also produce an "eBook" that "dispels a lot of the myths that are out there," Farin says.
