Clubs: Mistress Lisa's in a real Rush.

HARVEY'S in Wirral has been through a few changes since it opened last year but the latest night to hit the Wirral venue is causing quite a stir both sides of the water.

Rush, the work of friends Andy Carr and Christian Hargreaves,has been steadily building since its launch two months ago with clubbers drawn to its two-strand music policy and the lush surroundings of Harvey's.

But while Rush is in its infancy at the Birkenhead club its founders are no newcomers to the promotions game.

``We have been running Rush private parties and IOE (Invite Only Entrance) parties for about 8 years in different venues around the north west,''explains Andy.

Andy currently combines club and DJ work with running his clothes boutique Soho in Heswall but his roots are firmly in the nightclub industry.

He ran the Discobus service and the Saturday Essential nights at the Arrowe Park Hotel until it closed down two years ago and he is behind the sellout Elite Teens under-18s club nights.

``Harvey's is a great club,'' says Andy. ``It is a former Rank Leisure Club and has a very old style.

``Years ago when it was Atmosphere everybody used to come here it was a really cool place. I remember nwatching Carl Cox here when I was 16.

``With Rush we want it to be our own club, we are not trying to be anything else but we want to try to give Wirral something they have never had before.

``So it's a strict door code with a two-level music policy to cater for all. Up front house, trance and hard house plays upstairs and then downstairs and in the VIP room it's funky house and retro classics.''

Next Saturday looks like set to bet he biggest night yet for Rush as the talented and beautiful Lisa Pin-up takes to the decks. The hard-house mistress is guaranteed to bring the house down and not just at Harvey's .

``She is a great DJ who we really wanted to book and people are already very excited about seeing her,'' says Andy. ``Juice FM will be broadcasting her set live on air which is great for us.''

It won't end with the London-born former model though,Lisa is just the first in a season of big-name DJs planned for Rush.

Mark West plays on August 2 and then on September 13 the hell raiser of house music Brandon Block will be in Birkenhead and that is sure to be a big night.
