IT looks like soul music is where it's at right now with soulful house nights popping up all over the city. Next Thursday sees the arrival of a new one on the scene and with a Bank Holiday on Friday, what better excuse to try it out? U:Soul at the beautiful Baby Blue at Liverpool's Albert Dock, is the brainchild of Cream resident and Soundmob founder Andy Mac and sounds like it is going to be a pretty sexy affair. "This music is soulful, deep but fun," explains Andy. "I hope to be able to bring soulful house names to Liverpool on a monthly basis, and attract a diverse audience whether they're into house or more urban music. "U:Soul will also compliment the other soulful nights springing up in Liverpool at the moment-nights like Soul Heaven and Troubled Souls Troubled Souls is a puzzle game developed by Randy Reddig and released by Varcon Systems, Inc. on September 1, 1994 for the Macintosh. It was distributed by MacSoft. Troubled Souls is compatible with System Software 6 and later. . We're all part of the same family." For the launch party Andy has booked one of the hottest D J acts around in the shape of the strangely-monikered Irish stars Fish Go Deep. "The Cure And The Cause managed to accidentally kick-start a whole new musical movement last year in the shape of'urban house'," says Andy explaining why he chose the pair to launch his new project. "DJs and clubs used to a soundtrack of R'n'B and hip hop, started spinning the track and pretty soon urban house nights began appearing all over the country. "It was a massive track throughout 2006. It was played by deep and funky house DJs but also managed to strike a chord with the urban crowd, probably getting a bit bored with the way r'n'b is going." The success of the track with Tracey K's haunting vocals over a dirty baseline, has also taken the Fish Go Deep boys by surprise. Says Shane: "Even before the original release we were getting great feedback from a lot of the New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. What has surprised and excited us since then is the huge range of people that have picked up on it." Adds Andy: "I think U:Soul will see house music catering for a whole new audience. I expect a great night. It's Easter Thursday so everyone is off work the next day and up for a huge party."
