SCOTLAND'S leading electronic music label, Soma soma (sō`mə), psychotropic plant, the juice of which was sometimes drunk as part of the Vedic sacrifice (see Veda). Many hymns in the Rig-Veda are in praise of soma.  Records is getting involved with an exciting event to raise funds for Cancer Research.

 - Together Beat Cancer gig will showcase some of the best in contemporary Scottish music from the rock, pop, and club culture and takes place at the Glasgow Art School on October 24. As well as local bands, taking to the decks will be Soma protg Harvey McKay, whose excellent new album Machine Makes Noise is due out next month. He'll also be joined by Soma colleague Chris Lamb.

Sony BMG are relaunching their electronic label Deconstruction. Founded in 1987 and closed in 2001, the imprint had a strong reputation in the Nineties for producing cutting edge dance music, developing artists like Black Box, Death In Vegas, Way Out West, N Joi and Sasha among others. The first re-release came out this week in the shape of Sasha's prog v. i. 1. To wander about and beg; to seek food or other supplies by low arts; to seek for advantage by mean shift or tricks.
