Club beats cash target.


A BINGO hall is celebrating after beating its charity fundraising target for 2008.

Mecca South Shields South Shields, city (1991 pop. 86,488), South Tyneside, NE England, at the mouth of the Tyne River. It is a significant port. Shipbuilding and marine engineering are the main industries; chemicals and paints are manufactured. , on Dean Road in the town, raised the money for Whizz-Kidz, a national mobility charity, through a number of events over the past year.

Club manager Gavin Lee Gavin Lee (born October 15 1972) is a English actor currently starring as Bert in Mary Poppins at the New Amsterdam Theatre on Broadway, which began previews in October 2006 and officially opened on November 16, 2006.  said: "We originally had a target of pounds 3,500 to beat, so to have raised pounds 3,844 before we've even reached the end of year is quite an achievement."

Mecca Bingo has the overall aim of raising pounds 250,000 nationally and is already well on target, having reached pounds 218,464 so far.
