Clowning glory for festival of fun.SOUTHPORT will host an international clown celebration. A series of special events takes place next week, with a spectacular international gala show at Southport Arts Centre An art center or arts centre is distinct from an art gallery or art museum. An arts centre is a functional community centre with a specific remit to encourage arts practice and to provide facilities such as theatre space, gallery space, venues for musical performance, on Saturday, featuring clowns from the USA, Japan, Sweden and the UK. The events start at 11am with free, open-air performances by the clowns in front of Southport Arts Centre and in the Wayfarer's Arcade. In the arts centre there will be a children's matinee mat·i·nee or mat·i·née n. An entertainment, such as a dramatic performance or movie, presented in the daytime, usually in the afternoon. at 2pm, before the gala show starts at 7.30pm. It will be a special occasion for Southport's own international clown, Arthur Pedlar, who celebrates his 70th birthday that day.
