Clothing store's SoHo debut. The Sao Store, a women's clothing boutique, has leased 1,300 s/f of ground floor retail plus 200 s/f of basement for its first ever retail store at 112 Wooster Street, according to Christopher Owles, managing director of Sinvin Realty Corp. The location, between Prince and Spring Streets, will sell high-end clothing for women. Owles represented the landlord in the transaction, while Janet Lift, principal of J. Lift Co., represented the tenant. Financial terms of the five-year lease are not being disclosed, but the landlord had been asking $130 per square foot. "This area of SoHo is a great first location for a new clothing store," says Owles. "Some of its immediate neighbors include Chanel, Eres, BCBG/Max Azria, Georg Jensen and the brand-new 37,500 s/f Room & Board flagship store." The space--formerly occupied by Cynthia Rowley--is located on one of SoHo's prettiest blocks. It is highly visible with its 15-foot frontage and large floor-to-ceiling display window. It also has an awning and a flagpole for additional signage. The company is designing the simple interior itself. The Sad Store was founded by Sad, a women's fashion designer with more than 15 years of experience in the New York fashion wholesale industry as well as her native Europe. Her previous wholesale business in which she designed and sold a complete collection of women's Haute Couture, was distributed to about 200 outlets across the US and Europe. |
