Clothes firm clinches Rare deal to sell label at more Topshop outlets.

A LIVERPOOL womens-wear brand will increase sales by around pounds 1.2m a year after agreeing a new concessions deal with Topshop.

Rare is based at Brunswick Business Park, near Liverpool city centre, and already trades in Topshop and Debenhams stores throughout the UK. It employs more than 50 people. Now it has successfully bid to increase its linear footage by more than 30% within its current Topshop stores.

This long-term relationship has been cemented with the addition of Rare in four more Topshops taking the total to 17.

Managing director, entrepreneur Raj Talwar, believes the agreement will further boost sales by around pounds 1.2m which will push Rare's turnover to more than pounds 5m this year.

He said: "This news comes at an extremely exciting time for us, the launch of our website www.rarefashion.co.uk has further boosted our reach and brought a whole new facet to our commercial appeal."

Describing the rise of the company as a "real David and Goliath story" Mr Talwar said the business grew very quickly.

In 2003, turnover was just over pounds 1 m with a profit of pounds 24,000. In the year to May 2005 turnover was pounds 2.9m with a pounds 130,000 profit. Profits are projected to reach pounds 250,000 in the current financial year.
