Closing the case on Cunanan: could steroids have played a role in the killing spree?

Investigators have wondered aloud

about Andrew Cunanan's obsession

with fashion designer Gianni

Versace, whom the late "kept boy"

allegedly fatally shot last July.

Documents released in December by

police in Miami Beach Miami Beach, city (1990 pop. 92,639), Dade co., SE Fla., on an island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean; inc. 1915. It is connected to Miami by four causeways. , Fla., where

Versace was murdered, shed some

light on Versace's sex life but little

on Cunanan's motives.

The five-month police probe

found that Versace and his lover,

Antonio D'Amico Antonio D'Amico (born 1959 in southern Italy, raised in Milan) has been a model and an Italian fashion designer. [1]

His life so far has been marked by his relationship with the world famous designer Gianni Versace.
, regularly hired

male prostitutes for group sex. One

prostitute told investigators that he

visited Versace's Miami Beach

mansion several times for

threesomes with the couple.

"D'Amico claimed that such liaisons

were always mutually engaged in and

they were otherwise faithful to each

other," the police report stated.

Before he embarked on his alleged killing

spree, Cunanan bragged to friends that he

had met Versace. But according to according to

police report, "D'Amico insisted that he had

never before seen the shooter in Versace's

presence." A Versace employee admitted

that he hired hookers for Versace and

D'Amico but insisted that Cunanan was not

among them because "he wasn't their type."

These are just two of the revelations

contained in police reports. According to

the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune For the Wyoming newspaper, see .

Contrary to speculation, Cunanan

Meanwhile, Chicago police report that

they have been unable to find a previous

link between Cunanan and wealthy

businessman Lee Miglin Lee Miglin (1925-May 4, 1997) was a wealthy Chicago real estate developer who made millions in the building boom of the 1980s. Miglin was the third victim of Andrew Cunanan's 1997 murder spree. , who was allegedly

Cunanan's third victim. Miglin was

apparently chosen only because he was

wealthy. While in Miami Beach, Cunanan

pawned a gold coin that belonged to Miglin

for $190.

In the weeks before Versace's killing, the

Miami Beach police reports indicate,

Cunanan apparently roamed the resort city

with little fear of capture. He enjoyed

several gay dance clubs, where he bragged

openly of his exploits, and went to

theaters, where he watched the films Liar

Liar and The Devil's Own.
