Clorox Announces Key Executive Appointments.

OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 1999--

The Clorox Company (NYSE/PCX:CLX) today announced the following executive appointments, effective September 1, 1999. These changes reflect the expansion of the company's operations and portfolio following its acquisition of First Brands Corporation last January.

- Rich Conti, formerly vice president and general manager, Specialty Products, is promoted to group vice president;

- Tony Biebl, formerly vice president, product supply, is promoted to senior vice president, product supply;

- Frank Tataseo, formerly vice president, sales, is promoted to senior vice president, sales;

- David Matz, formerly category general manager, is promoted to vice president and general manager, Home Care;

Scott Vogel, formerly category general manager, is promoted to vice president and general manager, Laundry Additives.

"Each of these individuals has been a major contributor to driving profitable growth at Clorox," said Craig Sullivan, chairman and chief executive officer. "The promotions also recognize their increased management responsibilities as the company continues to grow."

Conti joined Clorox's sales organization in 1981 and has held a number of sales and general management positions since then, including vice president for Clorox's International division. Since 1996, he has been responsible for the company's charcoal, car care, insecticide, and cat litter businesses in the U.S.

Biebl has been responsible for the company's procurement, engineering, corporate manufacturing, customer service and logistics functions since 1992. He joined Clorox in 1981 as manufacturing manager for the Food Service division and has served as vice president and general manager for both the Food Service and Kingsford Products divisions.

Tataseo assumed responsibility for Clorox's corporate sales function when he joined the company as vice president of sales in 1994. Prior to joining Clorox, and following a 17-year career in sales management with the Procter & Gamble Company, Tataseo had been vice president of sales for The Pillsbury Company.

Matz joined Clorox's marketing department in 1986 and has held various marketing positions, including director of marketing for Food Products, Car Care and Home Care products, before assuming category general manager responsibility for the Home Care division earlier this year.

Vogel joined Clorox's marketing department in 1988 and has held various marketing positions, including director of marketing for Laundry Additives, before assuming category general manager responsibility for the Laundry Additives division earlier this year.
