After the collapse of the woolen industry, the complex was empty until Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) made its home there. The "Mill," left vacant by Digital in the late 1980's, is a focus of the community's economy. The beautiful complex, booked by a pristine lake on one side and the roaring Assabet River on the other, has undergone drastic renovations, attracting tenants from around the country.
