VIENNA, Va. -- Cloakware Inc., the security solutions provider that makes security inseparable from software, today announced that Clifford Liem, Code Transformation Architect and Team Leader will present a technical paper at Programming Languages and Analysis Security (PLAS) 2008 in Tucson, Ariz. The conference takes place on Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST.

In his session titled, "A Compiler-Based Infrastructure for Software-Protection," Liem discusses build-time security techniques for protecting otherwise vulnerable programs. He will address the methods for protecting one's critical software applications from malicious reverse engineering and tampering attacks.

"Compilers have the unique ability to process immense amounts of data, making them ideally suited for building protection and tamper-resistance into software," says Liem. "In order to properly secure applications from being targeted by hackers, one must use build-time techniques at the source code level within the compiler. This session will provide attendees with the necessary methodology, as well as several real world examples, of how to properly secure one's critical applications."

Liem received his Ph.D. in Microelectronics from L'Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG) in France where he was awarded the "Prix de These". He holds a Masters of Engineering (Electrical) degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, and a B.Sc. degree in Physics from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. Liem has authored over twenty publications including the book "Retargetable Compilers for Embedded Core Processors: Methods and Experiences in Industrial Applications".
