Clipper Navigation expands into luxury car and passenger ferry market with launch of Princess Marguerite III; new Seattle-Victoria service starts May 16.

The Princess Marguerite III, a 200-vehicle, 1,070-passenger ferry, will operate through mid-September with a 7:30 a.m. departure from Ogden Point Ogden Point is a deep water port facility in Victoria, British Columbia. It is a major destination for cruise ships. There is also a heliport located there, which has service to Seattle, Vancouver, and the Vancouver International Airport. , just outside Victoria's Inner Harbour, to downtown Seattle's Pier 48. The return trip from Seattle departs at 1 p.m. The ferry was acquired from Victoria Line Ltd., which was formerly owned and operated by the Province of British Columbia, and has been undergoing renovation to bring the vessel up to Victoria Clipper's luxury standards.

The addition of the car and passenger ferry brings the total number of vessels in the Victoria Clipper fleet to six, including four high-speed catamarans that make the Seattle-to-Victoria crossing in two to three hours, plus one mono-hull boat.

The Victoria Clipper II and III also serve the San Juan Islands San Juan Islands (săn wän), archipelago of 172 islands constituting San Juan co., NW Wash., E of Vancouver Island. The islands were visited and named c.1790 by Spanish explorers.  from Seattle.

Onboard facilities on the luxury ferry include outdoor viewing decks; enclosed cabin seating with large view windows; Admiralty Admiralty, in British government, department in charge of the operations of the Royal Navy until 1964. Originally established under Henry VIII, it was reorganized under Charles II.  Dining Room offering full breakfast buffet and at-your-table lunch service; Lighthouse Lounge; Maggie's Cafe serving espresso, snacks and light meals; Solarium Beer Garden; live entertainment; a new children's play area; expanded gift and duty-free shops; and day rooms. The vehicle decks can accommodate bicycles, motorcycles, cars, RVs, campers and motorcoaches.

Sample one-way fares are US $29 for adults or US $49 for car and driver. Children, one to 11 years, are half price.
