The 368-page volume's thousands of phrases are organized into about 160 topics. Each topic lists about 125 pertinent PERTINENT, evidence. Those facts which tend to prove the allegations of the party offering them, are called pertinent; those which have no such tendency are called impertinent, 8 Toull. n. 22. By pertinent is also meant that which belongs. Willes, 319.  phrases, some as many as 180. For example, here are five topics of interest to newsletter marketers with a few representative phrases:

* Guarantee/Warranty: "Don't forget ... our guarantee is unconditional HEIR, UNCONDITIONAL. A term used in the civil law, adopted by the Civil Code of Louisiana. Unconditional heirs are those who inherit without any reservation, or without making an inventory, whether their acceptance be express or tacit. Civ. Code of Lo. art. 878.

* Investments: "A sound investment? A wise investment? A lucrative investment?" "Never fall in love with your assets." "Our mission is to help you make money." "Steer your money in the right direction." "If you're in need of investment intelligence." And 175 other phrases.

* Savings: "Act fast. The time to save is now!" "Let us fill your wallet See digital wallet.  with savings." "No gimmicks! You pay 1/3 the price." "Save $100 instantly." "It's ridiculous ... how much you can save!" And 175 other phrases.

Other topics include holidays and seasons and specific subjects such as various sports, transportation, travel, money, computers, communications, health, and hospitals.

Bob Gorski, whose books have sold in the tens of thousands, says his collection of promotion phrases is "like having a copywriter in a book."
