Clinton Historical Committee recognizes museum for preservation.CLINTON - George Kittredge and Robert Davidson
The Museum was created by collector Gordon Lankton to house his extensive collection of Russian icons. of Clinton and founder Gordon Lankton. The award is given annually by the Clinton Historical Commission, in acknowledgement of efforts to preserve 19th and 20th century architecture, which is important and intrinsic to the Town of Clinton. The honor recognizes the museum's ability to design, build and rehabilitate re·ha·bil·i·tate v. 1. To restore to good health or useful life, as through therapy and education. 2. To restore to good condition, operation, or capacity. a historic site for continuing use in the 21st century, preserving a visible association with the town's past while providing a continued sense of cohesive pride, identity and heritage within the community. The Museum of Russian Icons preservation efforts are in line with a stream of recent Clinton projects, such as the renovation of the historical Bigelow Offices, The Clinton Library and the Clinton Post Office.
