Clinical nurse managers to form a section.


Following last year's duty managers' conference in Christchurch, attended by more than 70 delegates, the process of forming a clinical nurse managers' section is underway. . The committee has had one face-to-face meeting and has drafted a strategic plan, along with vision and mission statements. These will all go out for consultation to potential members. The proposed title for the section is Clinical Nurse Managers' Section and McDougall estimates there is an initial potential membership of 130 in the public sector. The committee is keen to get private sector managers involved as well.

With our own section, we will have the ability to play a Leading role in clinical management, advocacy and education opportunities. We will be able to provide expert nursing knowledge and advice at government and Ministry of Health level.
