CMS is among a select group of companies that will exhibit at the Summit, to be held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Cambridge; coeducational; chartered 1861, opened 1865 in Boston, moved 1916. It has long been recognized as an outstanding technological institute and its Sloan School of Management has notable programs in business, , March 12-13. The Summit is organized by the Washington, D.C.-based Council on Competitiveness.

CMS will unveil a prototype hand-held device that is an important milestone in the development of convenient and low-cost DNA diagnostics. The company is developing disposable DNA microchips and inexpensive, easy-to-use readers that promise to dramatically expand the range of commercial uses for DNA testing DNA testing

technology, and represent a major departure from current DNA chip systems that require complex and costly protocols. Such systems have been limited primarily to large-scale biomedical research applications.

CMS plans to develop a range of products for different applications and users. The products will rapidly and accurately detect and quantify target DNA in virtually any sample, from point-of- care disease diagnosis to food safety and environmental monitoring.

"We are pleased to introduce our prototype and technology at this important meeting," said CMS President and Chief Executive Officer Jon F. Kayyem, Ph.D. "Products based on our proprietary technology will have a major impact on medical diagnostics, and any other application that requires fast, accurate and cost-effective DNA analysis DNA analysis Any technique used to analyze genes and DNA. The National Innovation Summit brings together a select group of corporate chief executives, university presidents, labor leaders and state and federal policymakers, including vice president Albert Gore Jr.

The Council is a nonprofit, non-partisan forum known for its policy recommendations and its international benchmarking of U.S. competitiveness. The Summit's technology showcase introduces what the Council describes as "leading-edge technologies that improve the nation's economic and social well-being."
