CliniShare offers cardiac home services.

CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(HealthWire)--July 6, 1995--CliniShare, one of California's fastest-growing home-health-care companies, is now offering cardiac home services to Chatsworth and Pasadena residents to provide advanced home management of chronic diseases such as congestive heart failure (CHF) and related cardiac conditions.

According to CliniShare's President Bruce Blomstrom, "Our new cardiac home services not only feature the latest home-monitoring technology and infusion therapies, but patient care is provided by cardiac nurse specialists. In addition to reducing the high cost and discomfort of frequent hospitalizations, these services can significantly enhance the patient's quality of life."

CHF is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases in the nation. Currently, there are 3.5 million CHF patients in the United States, and more than 400,000 new cases are reported annually. The elderly are especially at risk, as CHF is the most common medical discharge diagnosis for patients over the age of 65.

CliniShare's cardiac-home-treatment program also includes comprehensive case-management coordination; around-the-clock availability of both clinical pharmacists and cardiac nurses; 24-hour-a-day, state-of-the-art transtelephonic EKG EKG - Electrocardiogram
EKG - Elektrokardiogram (Dutch/German version of the term)
EKG - Engelbert-Kaempfer-Gymnasium (school, Lemgo, Germany)
monitoring system; and in-home training for both patients and family members.

Blomstrom noted that CliniShare will soon be offering cardiac home services to patients in Santa Monica, Long Beach and Orange County.

CliniShare, which provides both pre- and post-hospital technologies and services, is owned by UniHealth. UniHealth, a leading health-care company, operates nine hospitals, an HMO (CareAmerica Health Plans), ElderMed, senior consulting services, and is affiliated with seven medical groups throughout California.

Additionally, the company has significant interest in PacifiCare Health systems, a Cypress, Calif.-based HMO.
