Climetrix opens database of weather-risk models. (Property/Casualty: Loss/Risk Management Notes).

A new version of the Climetrix weather-derivatives trading and risk-management system includes an open-database design that allows users to import and model temperature, rain, snow, wind and other types of weather data for any location worldwide.

Version 3.1 of the Climetrix system, recently released by Risk Management Solutions, includes advances in functionality that can benefit all types of participants in the weather market. With its new capabilities, Climetrix can be used by end-users or originators to structure and price a broad range of potential transactions.

As the weather market expands, there is increasing interest in weather risk-management products among non energy firms whose risk is often not related to temperature. "This new version of Climetrix provides market participants The term market participant is used in United States constitutional law to describe a U.S. State which is acting as a producer or supplier of a marketable good or service.
