Climber beats 1,300ft plunge.

The flight lieutenant's colleagues raised the alarm and she was found by a Highlands mountain rescue team and a RAF helicopter.

, leader of the rescue team in Glencoe, said: "There's been a lot of fatalities at the Summit Gully and I've never seen anyone survive such a big fall from there before.

"She hit rocks at the bottom but the slope was covered in snow which is probably what saved her. She was very lucky."

Janine was flown to hospital and was last night being treated at the specialist head injuries unit at the Southern General in Glasgow.

An army spokesman said she was on an adventure training course organised by the Joint Services Mountain Training Centre.

Janine, who lives with her RAF boyfriend at a rented bungalow bungalow [Indian bangla,=house], dwelling built in a style developed from that of a form of rural house in India. The original bungalow typically has one story, few rooms, and a maximum of cross drafts, with high ceilings, unusually large window and door  in Glatton, Cambs, dreamed of moving to Scotland once she had left the airforce.

One neighbour said last night: "They've told me about their dream to go and live in Scotland because they love their climbing and walking.

"It's dreadful news. She's a lovely woman."
