BERKELEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2003

In another significant effort to reduce its ecological footprint Ecological footprint (EF) analysis measures human demand on nature. It compares human consumption of natural resources with planet Earth's ecological capacity to regenerate them.  on the planet, Clif Bar Clif Bar (stylized as CLIF) is a brand of energy bar created in 1990 by Gary Erickson. History
It takes its name from Erickson's father, Clifford. The company was originally started as Kali's Bakery, but has since changed its name to Clif Bar Inc.
Inc. announced today that all of the cartons (caddies) that hold its energy and nutrition bars on store shelves will be made with 100 percent recycled paperboard, of which at least 50 percent will be derived from post-consumer waste Post-consumer waste is a waste type produced by the end consumer of a material stream; that is, where the waste-producing use did not involve the production of another product. .

Clif Bar Inc. annually produces more than 10 million caddies, each holding anywhere from a dozen to 16 of its LUNA Luna

In addition, the switch to recycled packaging fights global warming global warming, the gradual increase of the temperature of the earth's lower atmosphere as a result of the increase in greenhouse gases since the Industrial Revolution. . It reduces the energy consumed annually in making caddies by 4 billion BTU's (the amount of energy used to run 39 households for one year) and avoids the annual release of 660,000 pounds of greenhouse gases (equivalent to taking 58 cars off the road).

"The new packaging represents another big step in managing our company in an environmentally sensitive manner," said Gary Erickson, Clif Bar Inc. owner and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
