Client/Server Connection begins distribution, installation of CS/10,000 software; uses expert systems to assist managers with design of optimal, complex client/server systems.

MT. KISCO, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1996--Client/Server Connection, Ltd. is distributing its new client/server system design and management software, CS/10,000, to corporations around the world, including the U.S. Department of State, Barclay's Bank, Daiwa Securities and Samsung Data Systems. It is the first and only tool that employs rule-based expert systems An expert system based on a set of rules that a human expert would follow in diagnosing a problem. Contrast with model-based expert system.  to assist with the design, planning and implementation of complex client/server systems.

CS/10,000 uses a series of automated intelligent questionnaires to gather critical business and technical requirements for the client/server system, which can range in size from an individual workgroup to enterprise-wide. CS/10,000 then presents the user with optimal candidates for the client/server architecture An environment in which the application processing is divided between client workstations and servers. It implies the use of desktop computers interacting with servers in a network in contrast to processing everything in a large centralized mainframe. See client/server.  and network as the initial part of the solution. With these architectural blueprints in hand, the user then drills down to the CS/10,000 product repository of more than 2,000 key development, middleware Software that functions as a conversion or translation layer. It is also a consolidator and integrator. Custom-programmed middleware solutions have been developed for decades to enable one application to communicate with another that either runs on a different platform or comes from a  and networking products to complete the architecture design. The patent-pending Project Estimation Advisor, using neural network neural network or neural computing, computer architecture modeled upon the human brain's interconnected system of neurons. Neural networks imitate the brain's ability to sort out patterns and learn from trial and error, discerning and extracting  technology, quickly provides an accurate estimate of the amount of effort required to complete the project. The Global Command and Control Center provides the manager with a full-scale view of every project across the corporation, with drill-down capabilities from the corporate to the individual workgroup level. Automated Project Reporting produces interim reports at each and every phase of the project life cycle.

Recognizing the vast potential of the Internet, Client/Server Connection has extended both its methodology and repository of client/server and network architectures to support Internet and Intranet development. CS/10,000 also provides full support for data warehouse development in its methodology and architectural templates. In addition, CS/10,000 offers e-mail connectivity and seamless integration An addition of a new application, routine or device that works smoothly with the existing system. It implies that the new feature or program can be installed and used without problems. Contrast with "transparent," which implies that there is no discernible change after installation.  with third-party tools such as Microsoft Project (product) Microsoft Project - A Microsoft Windows program offering various project management tools.

CS/10,000 will run on client platforms including Windows(TM), Windows 95(TM), OS/2(R) and Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (TM); database server platforms including MS Access(R) and Oracle(R); and requires 8 MB of memory (24 MB on server) and 50 MB on disk space (20MB on server). The price of a single user license is $9,995.

The slash is also often used in command line syntax to indicate a switch. For example, in the DOS Xcopy statement xcopy *.  in the World Wide Web address listed in this press release.
