ClickSoftware Announces First Intelligent Capacity Planning Tool for the Service Industry.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 2000

ClickPlan Brings Sophisticated Capacity Planning Determining the required future configuration of hardware and software for a network, datacenter or Web site. There are numerous capacity planning tools on the market used to monitor and analyze the performance of the current hardware and software.

Capabilities to the Service Sector

ClickSoftware Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:CKSW) today announces the release of ClickPlan, a key component in ClickSoftware's Service Chain Optimization Suite.

ClickPlan is an intelligent, Web-based planning tool to be used by service managers for high-level resource allocation resource allocation Managed care The constellation of activities and decisions which form the basis for prioritizing health care needs  based on their forecasted workload.

to forecasted service demand. ClickPlan also enables service managers to easily compare anticipated demand with available resources.

The introduction of ClickPlan is being accompanied by the company's introduction of ClickMobile, the first integrated, optimized scheduling solution for PDA-equipped mobile field service personnel.

"With ClickPlan, the multi-trillion dollar service sector has access, for the first time, to the kind of intelligent, automated capacity planning previously found only in manufacturing industries manufacturing industries nplindustrias fpl manufactureras

," said Amit Bendov, vice president of Product Marketing for ClickSoftware. "But instead of planning based on machine and factory capacity and materials availability, ClickPlan focuses on a human service workforce, taking into consideration people-specific attributes such as skills, mobility, overtime, preferences, and vacation requests."

ClickPlan's service capacity planning functionality enables improved resource utilization and better service by identifying and resolving workforce shortages, surpluses, and imbalances weeks and even months in advance. ClickPlan compares forecasted workload (such as an increase in installation orders following a major promotional push) with actual work already allocated and scheduled among current service personnel.

ClickPlan analyzes the forecasted work by timeframe, job type, skill requirements, and geographic territory. It analyzes available and allocated resources while taking into consideration hours worked, overtime policies, work rules, service level commitments, holidays and vacations, and other factors that influence the capacity of the service force. As resources are allocated, ClickPlan highlights potential shortages, surpluses, and imbalances in the workforce.

"With ClickPlan, every organization can easily perform sophisticated service demand capacity planning and avoid costly surprises," explained Bendov. "While schedule optimization maximizes the utilization of the existing workforce, ClickPlan's capacity planning provides the analytical tools so that you have the right workforce capacity in place. Managers constantly ask themselves questions such as: How many people do I need, and with what skill mix? Should I hire, train, or should I outsource? Would temporarily moving resources from one area to another make sense? How many vacations can I approve in a given month? ClickPlan can help answer these questions, and more," Bendov added.

"Over four years ago we pioneered the field of service chain optimization," said Moshe BenBassat, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and chairman of ClickSoftware. "It is exciting to see such momentum in this field. ClickSoftware is committed to continuing to expand its product offerings to cover all business roles in a service organization. This includes our Service Chain Optimization Suite of integrated tools to automate the entire service operation from initial forecasting and planning through diagnostics, scheduling, monitoring, and service completion. As the service sector's first intelligent capacity planning tool, ClickPlan delivers a number of benefits. These include increased resource utilization and improved service through centralized, Web-based forecast management, early identification of resource shortages or surpluses, reduced time spent on planning, and decision support for staff development strategy planning."

ClickPlan pricing starts at $50,000. It will be available to beta users in November 2000 and is scheduled for general release in December 2000.
