, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 1997--ClickOver Inc. today introduced ClickWise and ClickWise Pro, the first products in its family of intelligent electronic advertising management software solutions.

Designed for webmasters and ad administrators, ClickWise sets a new standard in real-time accountability and targeting for Web sites that display advertisements. Developed entirely in Java, ClickWise gives Web sites the ability to scale intelligently and the flexibility to readily accommodate advertiser and agency requests.

"In addition to developing powerful and flexible ad management solutions, ClickOver products are easy to use, install and integrate and are entirely cross-platform," said Thomas Churchill, president of ClickOver. "And by offering scalable pricing for ClickWise we are taking an innovative step toward expanding the overall electronic advertising market by delivering an intelligent ad management system designed for web sites of all sizes."

ClickWise is available immediately and is already fully functional at a number of leading Web sites including AdOne Classified Network, GamePen, Imagine Publishing Imagine Publishing is a UK-based Magazine Publisher, which publishes a number of videogames, computing, creative and lifestyle magazines. -- Real-Time Ad Prioritization for Maximizing Inventory -- Upon each request for an ad, the ClickWise Ad Prioritizer considers all information available about a user and the performance of each ad against its contractual obligations and determines the highest-scoring or "best" ad. By utilizing dynamic ad scoring, ClickWise automatically optimizes available inventory, satisfies the targeting needs of advertisers, and prevents both underdelivery and overdelivery of ads.

-- Advanced Ad Targeting -- With simple point and click steps, users of ClickWise can target ads by any combination of the following: page groupings, day of week, hour of day, search engine search terms, size of ad, competitive ads that might show up on the same page, and a user's domain name, operating system operating system (OS)

Software that controls the operation of a computer, directs the input and output of data, keeps track of files, and controls the processing of computer programs.
, and browser type. ClickWise also supports "excludes," "exclusives," and weighted targeting.

-- Easy Target Customization -- ClickWise incorporates a modular design In the context of systems engineering, modular design — or "modularity in design" — is an approach aiming to subdivide a system into smaller parts (modules) that can be independently created and then used in different systems to drive multiple functionalities.  that allows users to incorporate additional targeting dimensions, usually without writing any code, by using the ClickWise Plug-In Construction Kit. User registration data, cookies and psychographic/preference profiles can be utilized for ad targeting purposes. ClickWise customers can also use the ClickWise Targeting API (Application Programming Interface) A language and message format used by an application program to communicate with the operating system or some other control program such as a database management system (DBMS) or communications protocol.  to create targeting modules specific to their objectives.

-- Real-Time Ad Performance Reports -- ClickWise tracks and reports all statistics critical for determining ad performance, including ad insertions, impressions, click-thrus and yield (click-thrus divided by impressions). Web site ad managers, agencies and advertisers can use unique IDs and passwords to log onto a ClickWise server with any browser and access real-time performance reports just for their ads. Unlike other Web ad management systems, the real-time nature of these reports allows Web sites and advertisers to get up-to-the-second feedback on ad performance and test creatives. In addition, ClickWise creates reports that show a site how ads are performing relative to their contractual obligations.

-- Easy-to-Use Graphical User Interface graphical user interface (GUI)

Computer display format that allows the user to select commands, call up files, start programs, and do other routine tasks by using a mouse to point to pictorial symbols (icons) or lists of menu choices on the screen as opposed to having to
-- As a separate, stand-along Java application A Java program that is run stand alone. The Java Virtual Machine in the client or server is interpreting the instructions. Contrast with Java applet. See servlet. , the ClickWise remote client simplifies ad management to a series of drag-and-drop, point-and-click steps.

-- Truly Distributed Architecture -- For customers with extremely high ad volume, ClickOver has created ClickWise Pro, the first electronic ad management system with a truly distributed architecture. ClickWise Pro allows high-volume Web sites and site networks to put ClickWise on multiple machines and still serve ads intelligently. The user can manage ads easily, regardless of the number of servers and their geographic locations. ClickWise Pro automatically distributes new ads to all machines, synchronizes the machines to prevent system-wide overdelivery and underdelivery of ads, and provides redundancy for fault-tolerance and load balancing The fine tuning of a computer system, network or disk subsystem in order to more evenly distribute the data and/or processing across available resources. For example, in clustering, load balancing might distribute the incoming transactions evenly to all servers, or it might redirect them  across machines.

-- Broad Support for a Variety of Ad Specifications -- ClickWise supports a wide variety of creative sizes and types (GIF GIF
