More than 4,000 Web surfers logged on to www.black enterprise.com to indicate their degree of satisfaction with their city on factors such as cost of living, employment opportunities, political climate, crime rate, school system, cultural offerings, and weather conditions. Some results were closely supported by the secondary data we collected, while other findings were surprising.

Unlike other publications, our list of top cities was not the result of selections by the editorial staff. Our reader's choice poll gathered personal insight from the sources who know the hot spots best--the people that live there. Were your favorite cities among the top contenders?
