Cleveland area PR consultant to work on Walt Disney World's 25th Anniversary celebration.


CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 1996--Karin Korpowski, a public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. Korpowski, a former employee of Walt Disney World, will be at the No. 1 vacation destination from Sept. 29 - Oct. 6 working in the News and Media Information Dept. as a special consultant for the anniversary kick-off.

Korpowski, a Cleveland native and Bowling Green State University Bowling Green State University, at Bowling Green, Ohio; coeducational; chartered 1910 as a normal school, opened 1914. It became a college in 1929, a university in 1935.  graduate, spent a year at the resort in 1990 as a publicist in what was then called Disney's Press and Publicity Dept. During her year stay with Disney, Korpowski earned college credit and received what she calls the "PR bug."

"My college degree was actually in broadcast journalism Broadcast journalism refers to television news and radio news, as well as the online news outlets of broadcast affiliates. ," said Korpowski. "But I decided to apply for the Disney position to boost my resume and get some really exciting experience. I had no idea I would fall in love with PR. But what better place to learn about special events, media relations and promotions than at Walt Disney World."

Although it seems to have been around forever, Walt Disney World is actually only 25 years old; the Magic Kingdom opened on Oct. 1, 1971. The kickoff to the year-long celebration begins this October 1st and is filled with celebrity appearances, new attractions and parties galore. "Stars" scheduled to be on hand for the kick-off include Regis and Kathy Lee (doing their show, LIVE, from the Disney-MGM Studios Disney-MGM Studios is a theme park at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA. The third park to open at the resort, it debuted on May 1, 1989. Spanning 135 acres (546,000 m²) in size, the park's theme is show business, drawing inspiration from the heyday of ), Sharon Stone, Michael J. Fox, Brett Butler Brett Butler can refer to different people:

"I just love Oprah," said Korpowski, "and there's a rumor she may be coming. And I wouldn't mind seeing Tom Cruise either, but I'd settle for Mickey."

Here at McKinney, Cleveland, Korpowski handles the PR on several accounts including Club Epicure and Aurora Premium Outlets. Known around the office as "Mickey," it wasn't surprising to McKinney Executive Vice President, Judy Cerne, that Disney asked Korpowski for her help on the 25th anniversary.

"She's a hard worker and knows PR," said Cerne. "She works well with the media...and one look at her office and you know how much that Mouse means to her. Mickey is everywhere! I hope they don't keep her."

Keep her? One thing is certain with Korpowski.
