CLEVELAND Juniors Under-10s entertained a six-man Bedale hoping to get back to winning ways.

It was not long into the match before Marcellus Kerr flicked Josh Smith's goal-bound drive into the net to open the scoring.

Anthony Renton added a second shortly after, and then coolly converted a penalty before setting up chances, for Josef Edwards and Brandon Terry just before half-time.

Unfortunately, neither could do justice to Renton's vision.

Cleveland didn't have it all their own way and Bedale had chances of their own, but ran into

Luke Hughes who grew in confidence as the game went on.

Cleveland kept going, trying to make the extra-man advantage count, but Bedale were resolute in their defending, and held firm alongside some poor Cleveland finishing.

Renton was still creating the chances at one end while helping out with defensive duties at the other. There was still time for Edwards to slip in a fourth, with the provider Renton.

Smith then won a goalkeeper's clearance and sent Renton away down the left. His first-time ball was sublime and Edwards scored.

After a goalmouth scramble, which saw Kerr have two bites of the cherry and Edwards have a shot blocked, the ball fell to Renton and on his left foot. He steered it past the keeper to complete his hat-trick and make it 5-0.

Full credit must go to Bedale who played with a man short and ensured this was a competitive game to the last minute by not letting their heads drop, and kept on attacking the Cleveland goal until the final whistle.
