Four of the health system's hospitals have selected the SunriseXA(TM) Clinical Manager package and its Knowledge-Based Administration component, as well as the SunriseXA Emergency Department and Oncology packages. Additionally, they have chosen to upgrade to Eclipsys' advanced decision support system.

"Our decision to partner with Eclipsys was the result of several key factors," said Charles B. Miner, Cleveland Clinic Health System-Eastern Region's chief executive officer. "On a site visit during the selection process, we saw Clinical Manager actively being used by physicians and nurses, confirming that the product returned demonstrable improvements. Additionally, Eclipsys' commitment to long-term success, including its strategic alignment with Microsoft and the .NET Framework, indicated to us that we were choosing the best clinical information system available now with the foundation to maintain that lead in the future."

As a Balanced Outcomes Partner and member of Eclipsys' Strategic Alliance program, the health system and Eclipsys will work together to determine the best ways to use technology to transform clinical and business processes and drive cost savings throughout the organization, with the larger goal of assuring patient safety and satisfaction. Greg Kall, Cleveland Clinic Health System-Eastern Region's vice president of information technology said, "In our search for a new system, we looked at several vendors in the marketplace. Physicians and nurses alike were impressed that the Eclipsys products were part of an evolved solution set that met our needs for clinical documentation, patient safety, education, and medication administration. Now, as we move forward to automate our traditional paper processes in a single, integrated system we expect to deliver improved workflow across the entire care continuum."

"We're very proud to have been chosen as a strategic information systems partner for this premier healthcare system," said Paul L. Ruflin, president and chief executive officer of Eclipsys.
