will receive more than $10 million in grants and low-cost loans through The Cleveland Foundation Established in 1914, the Cleveland Foundation was the world's first community foundation. In 2007 it ranks as America's third-largest community foundation, with assets in excess of $1.9 billion and annual grants surpassing $85 million.  this quarter.

Grants from donor-advised funds make up $3,278,942 of the total.

In addition to making disbursements in response to general grant requests, the Foundation also addressed major capital grants. Organizations receiving these grants are:
-- The Covenant, Inc. -- Located in a church annex building in Ohio City, The
Covenant is the sole provider of substance abuse treatment for adolescents on
the west side of Cleveland. The Covenant plans to restore the historic McGuffey
School as its permanent home.

-- A $700,000 grant was made toward a $2.8 million project for the construction
of the Covenant Adolescent Chemical Dependency & Prevention Center. The new
center would enable the agency to increase its treatment capacity by 50
percent. In addition, the project allows The Covenant to consider development
of a community school for youth involved with substance abuse. The planned site
would include space for counseling, therapeutic group meetings, staff,
classrooms, a gymnasium and a kitchen.

-- Shaker Square Development Corporation (SHAD) -- SHAD intends to purchase and
revitalize the Moreland Greens Apartment complex located on the south end of
Shaker Square. Currently, Moreland Greens is a deteriorating property with
higher than typical occupancy turnover, thereby creating an unstable situation.
The Foundation awarded a $550,000 grant toward the $12 million project that
would reconfigure the six building complex to include 194 rental units plus
approximately 30 for sale townhouses. Additionally, this project is designed to
produce a mixed income development that will include approximately 25 percent
lower income families.

The Foundation will also continue to support modest grants for capital projects, which so far this year have amounted to more than $1.4 million in addition to the major grants noted above.
