Clement Named to Lead MetroWest Medical Center.

FRAMINGHAM and NATICK, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 2000

Mark C. Clement has been named chief executive officer of MetroWest Medical Center, it was announced today by the MetroWest Medical Center board of directors and Tenet Healthcare Corp. (NYSE:THC).

Clement will assume leadership of the 475-bed, two-hospital system Oct. 10.

For the past 8 years, Clement has served as president and chief executive officer of Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago. During his tenure, Holy Cross Hospital emerged as a leading community-based health system and was recognized by several national organizations for excellence in customer service.

Under Clement's leadership, Holy Cross Hospital recruited more than 100 new physicians, created a multi-specialty primary care network with 19 locations, and implemented a $25 million master facility plan to modernize all public and patient areas.

He also was responsible for the development and expansion of core programs and services, including women's and children's services, surgical services, and outpatient services.

Prior to his leadership role in Chicago, Clement held senior administrative positions at St. Francis Hospital and Health Center in Blue Island, Ill.; United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, W.Va.; and Champlain Valley Hospital Medical Center in Plattsburg, N.Y.

Final selection of Clement was a collaborative effort by members of the medical center's board, which is made up of an equal number of representatives chosen by Tenet and by MetroWest Health Inc., the nonprofit group that maintains a 20 percent ownership of MetroWest Medical Center. Board members include physicians, administrators and community representatives.

MetroWest Medical Center consists principally of 281-bed Framingham Union Hospital in Framingham and 194-bed Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick. The medical center has more than 2,500 employees and more than 400 affiliated physicians.
