Clegg Food Projects wins major yoghurt plant project.


Clegg Food Projects is starting work on a scheme to create a new yoghurt yogurt, yoghurt

Austrian dairy firm, the NOM Group, is investing 40m [pounds sterling] in production facilities--its first in the UK and the company turned to Clegg for its expertise in providing construction and engineering solutions for the food industry.

Due to be completed in January January: see month.  next year, the Telford plant will also provide accommodation for NOM's UK head office as well as producing yoghurt and yoghurt drinks.

The initial development is expected to create around 100 jobs whilst further expansion could see the creation of a further 400 and Nottingham-based Clegg Food Projects managing director, Steve Giltrap, said he was proud that his company was involved in such a prestigious project.

"This is a major development that has the support of Telford and Wrekin Telford and Wrekin is a unitary district with borough status in the West Midlands region of England. The district was created in 1974 as The Wrekin, then a non-metropolitan district of Shropshire.  Council and I am delighted that, following a lengthy and detailed selection process, NOM chose Clegg Food Projects to deliver the project," he explained.

"The building of the new facility presents a number of challenges, not least some very exacting timescales and with the completion of the main factory before the end of the year.

Sited on land acquired from English Partnerships English Partnerships (EP) is the national regeneration agency for England, performing a similar role on a national level to that fulfilled by Regional Development Agencies on a regional level. , the new facility will enable NOM to produce its products closer to markets in the UK therefore reducing transport costs and the company's impact on the environment.
