Clegg Food Projects' new expansion completed. (News & Installations).


Food industry construction and engineering specialists Clegg Food Projects are celebrating the completion of a multi million pound expansion project for a major retail bakery chain.

The scheme included the design and construction of a 45,000 sq ft cold storage and distribution facility linked to Greggs Greggs plc is the largest specialist retail bakery chain in the United Kingdom. It is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England and is quoted on the London Stock Exchange.

Greggs was founded in the 1930s by John Gregg with a single shop in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Clegg Food Projects Managing Director, Steve Giltrap explained: "The new building, which we have just formally handed over, is needed to support the continued strong growth of Greggs" operations throughout the UK.

"We had to work extremely closely with the Greggs management team to develop the scheme from scratch and to ensure that the building design fully met all of the company's operational requirements (programming) operational requirements - Qualitative and quantitative parameters that specify the desired capabilities of a system and serve as a basis for determining the operational effectiveness and suitability of a system prior to deployment. ." Work is also getting underway on two further contracts, together worth almost [pounds sterling]8 million. One involves the construction and fitting Out of a major extension to Solway Foods sandwich production facility in Worksop whilst the other will see the development of a new recipe dish unit for Noon Products in Southall.
