Cleco Power owns 1,360 megawatts of generation and currently supplements its power needs through contracts with Williams Energy and Marketing and Dynegy.

"Our existing contracts largely expire at the end of 2004. With the growing excess of generation resources in our region, we think the timing is right to see if we can find new, attractively priced options for our customers," Bausewine said.
