Clearswift launches CS Mailsweeper 5.2 for Domino.

Clearswift recently announced CS MAILsweeper 5.2 for Domino, which offers both new and improved features.

CS MAILsweeper 5.2 for Domino offers new, deeper levels of security by adding the abilities to analyse text in email attachments, and to scan for viruses in email messages. Script viruses can now be proactively blocked using pattern recognition techniques.

Configuration details can now be exported to XML files, in order to keep the details safe in case of disaster or configuration change. MIME formatted emails can be analyzed without conversion, which results in high performance email processing.

There are major improvements in the administration of message quarantine folders and in attachment fingerprints. Quarantined email can be viewed by category--which makes for fast and easy email traffic viewing. Attachment fingerprints are grouped together by description/type and this simplifies their creation and editing.

An attractive feature for the many large, distributed Domino installations is the improved multi-server support. This enables the configuration and management of multiple MAILsweeper servers across large and complex networks and facilitates fast and easy administration for networks of all sizes.

The new product offers advanced disclaimer integration, which allows disclaimers to be flexibly integrated within emails--customizing email presentation--as either headers or footers, to protect against legal liability.

MAILsweeper for Domino analyses internal email sent through and residing in Lotus Domino messaging systems and databases, allowing organizations to implement management and security policies to block inappropriate emails, comply with legal requirements and increase user productivity. Many email threats originate, accidentally or maliciously, from within the organization. These threats include confidentiality breaches, exposure to legal liability, productivity loss and the receipt or transmission of offensive material. Undetected viruses can cause data loss and degradation or denial of service. Email and database misuse can cause damage to the organization's reputation.

MAILsweeper 5.2 for Domino acts as an integral part of the IBM Lotus Domino architecture, configured through a Notes interface. The product analyses email and databases through four key stages--policy identification, content disassembly, content analysis and message classification/disposal path selection.

IBM purchased Lotus, primarily to acquire its Notes technology, in 1995. Notes is an email, calendaring, group scheduling, Web access and information management client. IBM also acquired the Lotus HTTP server, which in 1996 was renamed Domino. The Domino R5 family of servers delivers messaging, applications and online collaboration for organizations from small businesses to the largest enterprises.
