ClearTrust SecureControl Delivers Highest Web Site Login Performance Ever Recorded by Mindcraft.

Business/Technology Editors

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 2000

ClearTrust SecureControl Delivers 4X Better Login Performance than

Netegrity SiteMinder, and 18X Better than enCommerce getAccess

Securant Technologies, the access management company that secures eBusiness, today announced that ClearTrust SecureControl achieved record setting login performance in evaluations conducted by independent test lab Mindcraft, Inc. Running on two uni-processor Sun Enterprise 450 servers, ClearTrust SecureControl version 4.2 delivered 45,767 Logins per minute against a database of one million users. In addition, ClearTrust SecureControl delivered nearly identical performance when the number of users in the database was increased to five million. Compared to benchmark tests conducted by Mindcraft earlier this year, ClearTrust SecureControl achieved 4 times more logins per minute than Netegrity SiteMinder, and 18 times more logins per minute than enCommerce getAccess.

These performance numbers provide further evidence that ClearTrust SecureControl scales beyond departmental applications and is capable of supporting true Internet-class traffic loads. The ability to support a database of millions of users and process tens of thousands of Logins per minute is required to handle Web-based enterprise applications, Application Service Provider (ASP) hosting, and exploding wireless eBusiness transactions in the financial services The examples and perspective in this article or section may not represent a worldwide view of the subject.

Test Methodology

Mindcraft tested the performance of ClearTrust SecureControl Version 4.2 running on two uni-processor Sun Enterprise 450 servers. For these tests the Mindcraft iLOAD MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. Officially introduced as the TMS320C80, it combines RISC technology with the functionality of four DSPs on one chip. (TM) test tool running the AuthMark(TM) Benchmark Login Scenario was used. This tool simulated users logging into Web servers. A login is the combination of one user authentication See authentication.  and one authorization for access to a resource (a file in our case). The tests were done using two different user database sizes: one with 1,000,000 users and the other with 5,000,000 users. All tests were done without caching in the ClearTrust Web server plug-in to show its worst-case login performance for 10% of the users in the database getting one file each.
