), today announced that it has been named one of the "Top Five Companies to Watch in 2007" by HPCwire, a Tabor Communications Inc. publication. Other companies named to the top five included AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips. , Microsoft, SGI, and SiCortex. ClearSpeed was also honoured with the 2006 HPCwire Reader's Choice Award for the "Most Significant New HPC Hardware Product" for its RoHS-compliant, smaller form factor Advance[TM] Accelerator board announced last June.

The winners of the awards - announced last night in a presentation at SC06 in Tampa, Florida - were determined by a random poll of HPCwire's global readers, contributing editors and industry luminaries. ClearSpeed was selected for several reasons, including its technology, messaging, focus and management.

According to the official HPCwire announcement of the awards posted on the HPCwire Web site, the editors stated, "When partners like Intel applaud you for helping them deliver abreakthrough' capabilities, it's a pretty good sign that you are doing something right. ClearSpeed has an impressive portfolio when it comes to performance acceleration. It's what they do. And they do it really well. Increasing performance without impacting the power requirements. Do you think the HPC community finds this interesting? Darn right they do."

The HPCwire analysis noted that ClearSpeed added a key member to its management team; Stephen McKinnon joined as chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
in August 2006. HPCwire editors noted, "McKinnon is an Intel veteran with more than 25 years of semiconductor industry experience. He's a pro. So now, add a solid management team to that powerful combination of technology, messaging and focus, and you have a very impressive combination that makes ClearSpeed a company worth watching."

"The importance of high performance computing to the future of various industries and areas of critical research is increasingly widely understood," said Tom Beese, chief executive officer of ClearSpeed Technology. "It is an honor for ClearSpeed to be recognized as one of a select group of companies and industry visionaries who are pioneering a new era of supercomputing architectures."

ClearSpeed Presence at SC06

ClearSpeed Technology will be exhibiting and presenting this week at SC06 in Tampa, Florida. Demonstrations include record-breaking LINPACK performance per Watt that scales from desktops to TeraFLOPS; acceleration for scientific applications with Wolfram wolfram: see tungsten.  Research's Mathematica[R]; acceleration for financial algorithms using Monte Carlo simulation Monte Carlo Simulation

John Gustafson, ClearSpeed's chief technology officer for HPC will be delivering a talk on Acceleration Technologies: Understanding the Differences and Assessing What's Right for You at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14 at the Tampa Convention Center The Tampa Convention Center is a mid-sized convention center located in Downtown Tampa, Florida. Its location is ideal because it has both waterfront views, and views of the skyline. , Room 13.

Clearspeed, in collaboration with Hewlett Packard and Intel, will feature ClearSpeed Advance technology at the Intel[R] booth (#1523) demonstrating acceleration of a cluster of four Hewlett Packard Proliant DL380 G5 servers running the high performance LINPACK benchmark and capable of delivering 364 GFLOPS See gigaFLOPS.
