acceleration technology exclusively focused on the high precision, high performance and low power requirements of the high performance and technical computing market, today announced breakthrough performance for a dual socket industry standard system. Two ClearSpeed Advance[TM] boards in a dual socket, Dual-Core Intel[R] Xeon[R] processor-based server, equipped with two 3GHz Dual-Core Intel[R] Xeon[R] 5160 processors, delivered 102.6 GFLOPS on the LINPACK benchmark compared with an already impressive 38 GFLOPS delivered by the base system.

In addition to delivering breakthrough performance, the ClearSpeed technology is remarkably power efficient, delivering the additional 64.6 GFLOPS of performance while consuming only 50 Watts of additional power.

"Performance combined with energy efficiency is a critical consideration for the entire industry, and especially so in high performance computing," said Jim Pappas, director of initiative marketing for Intel Corporation. "Specialist suppliers such as ClearSpeed Technology that work with Intel to provide breakthrough capabilities, play an important role in providing the optimum solution to our most demanding customers."

At the Intel Developer Forum Intel Developer Forum (IDF), is a twice yearly gathering of technologists to discuss Intel products and products based around Intel products. The first IDF was in 1997. There is usually a Spring IDF and a Fall IDF. , ClearSpeed will also be previewing future technology capabilities that include a demonstration of the prototype PCI Express (PCIe) accelerator board. Working with Intel's IHV (Independent Hardware Vendor) An organization that makes electronic equipment. PCI and 32-bit PCI-X slots are physically the same, and PCI cards can plug into PCI-X slots.  specification.

"We've been extremely impressed with support given by Intel's IHV optimization lab," said Con Bradley, the ClearSpeed Software engineer responsible for PCIe device drivers. "With Intel's assistance we have not only validated and improved our performance but gained an understanding of PCIe that will save several weeks of engineering effort."

Cables run from the outside world to the MDF and then to the IDFs. See MDF and wiring rack.

ClearSpeed will be exhibiting in the PCIe community (booth number 327) where it will preview a demonstration of its PCIe accelerator board and also in Intel's IHV community (booth number 323) where it will demonstrate the record breaking ClearSpeed acceleration of a Woodcrest platform system. In addition there will be several opportunities to attend ClearSpeed presentations. ClearSpeed's vice president of applications, Simon McIntosh-Smith, will be speaking on Tuesday, September 26 in Room 2009 on "Accelerating Intel[R] MKL MKL Math Kernel Library (Intel)
