This latest enhancement to the market-leading NTM family provides improved performance, integration with ClearSight Apex[R] and a new level of interoperability with Wireshark[R], a leading freeware protocol analyzer.

ClearSight's NTM 6.9 combines the best features from the NTM hardware capture appliance with the Wireshark software application. IT engineers and managers using both NTM and Wireshark must continuously switch back and forth in an inconvenient and time-consuming workflow to effectively use both tools. With NTM 6.9, ClearSight customers and Wireshark users are able to capture and store wire-speed network traffic at all deployed Ethernet data rates - from 10/100 MbE to 1 GbE to 10 GbE - with NTM, and then immediately apply the features of Wireshark. It is estimated that there are more than 25 million Wireshark users worldwide, many of whom can now benefit from ClearSight's unique NTM integration by accelerating their troubleshooting and analysis efforts.

The NTM's high capture rates and large storage capability allow collection of data over an extended period of time, facilitating the identification of abnormal packets that can cause intermittent faults, packets associated with unauthorized access, and the forensic analysis of 100 percent of application transactions carried over the network. Storage configurations are available from 1.6 TBs to 44 TBs. The distributed architecture allows users to capture data from separated network segments and correlates that data to form a total picture of traffic flow throughout the network. Now, Wireshark users can leverage the capture and indexing power of the NTM platform while still using Wireshark for network analysis.

Other NTM 6.9 features include integration with Apex, ClearSight's expert analysis engine. Apex contains a fully comprehensive knowledge base - derived from millions of hours of effort by network experts worldwide - to allow it to simulate real human network experts in making informed decisions. In addition, NTM 6.9 has enabled performance enhancements for ClearSight's Atlas[R] product; together, NTM and Atlas have the ability to capture, index and classify complex network information. An index and classification engine crunches and makes sense of terabytes worth of network data in near real-time. This information is then used to create unique views that are critically valuable to assisting network engineers and administrators to proactively manage and service their networks.
